thanks everyone. I talked to mom a while ago. Apparently the realtors were able to convince the buyer that he's wrong. The realtors did slip past my folks the fact that the folks would have 1 day to move out....and believe me...when I was over there last my son and I read him the riot act. I don't know if it's the law to have 3 days but I've bought and sold many homes in Oregon and NEVER has there been less than 3 days! The realtor apparently in this case has paid the buyer $200.00 to allow the folks to stay longer.
As I said, mom says he's a "great realtor -- he's been in the business for 30 years". Wellllll, I don't believe it. I'll be reporting this situation to the Real Estate Commissioner. Mom won't like it....and I don't care. What they've done by setting the sale up this way and allowing this man to bully the folks has me beyond irritated.
We'll be going over there tomorrow to help out....so I won't be back online for a few days.

Folks sold home -- all he$$ broke out today UPDATE
OMG -- folks sold their home....and troubles have loomed!
The buyer of their home wanted to do a last minute walk-thru. I wasn't concerned....the folks have kept this house in immaculate condition. WELL....the one problem I saw was the realtors had it set up where the folks sign off on old house today and sign for new one today and THEN after they'd signed both places, the buyers for folk's house would sign for the house. The papers won't be recorded with the state until tomorrow -- that gives them until 5:00 tomorrow to move out. I was upset about that, asked the realtor what happens if the sale falls thru and he said "it won't. The people have cash and the money is "set aside" for the sale". WELL...the buyer came by at 1:30 and all hell broke loose. The folks have movers coming in to pack and move them tomorrow. The buyers understanding is that they're to be out by 5:00 TODAY. The contract at the beginning said the folks could pay $100.00 a day till they're out and the final possession would be no later than July 31. Well.....now they say they don't know WHAT the contract said. The buyer is threatening to pull out. My folks have called their realtor and the buyer's called his and they're all meeting at the house. GOOD LORD! Mom keeps saying their realtor is "good -- he was recommended -- he's been in the business for 30 years". Well -- I don't believe it....I lived in Salem for years and never heard of this guy. Keep your fingers crossed. I'd hate like hell for them to have to keep the new house and still have the old one. Meanwhile, mom is so upset I want to get over there tonight and can't!!!
This enforces my recommendation to NOT have a short timeline for moving out after the house sells. It's even too late for the folks to cancel the movers!!!!

I would think that ANYONE who has $100,000. or more invested in 1 or 50 banks, would certainly have a financial advisor. AND that person should be asking the questions of that advisor....it would prevent mixed answers from the internet.

My children and I both had bad acne......I learned in my teens to use NEOSPORIN ointment -- every night and under my makeup during the day. don't just put it on the acne...put in on as though it's a moisturizer --all over the face. The kids used it the minute they started breaking out....worked for them and me!

Unfortunately professional, commercial drivers also hit bridges, etc., that are low. Sometimes people just forget they have a large trailer behind them.
I saw the truck cab being crushed,the frame appeared to cave in, can't imagine the driver and if there were passengers walked away unscathed.Amen to that!!! i watched a semi truck driver talking on the phone, while crossing 2 lanes of traffic while making a turn(with cars coming in fast toward him) and not cutting it enough to make the turn. Idiot stopped all traffic until he could back up and try again.....ALL the while he was talking on the phone!!!

Oh - I believe it, too! A neighboring camper told us last week how he ALMOST did the same thing a few days before....fortunately for him, the clerk in the store/gas station came running out and waving him to stop! Lucky guy!

Once had a cat climb onto the motor during cold weather. Unfortunately for the cat, we left again in about 10 minutes. Heard a "BANG" when I started the car. I turned it off immediately and saw a cat running from the car at about 2000 mph. :B later we discovered a hole in the radiator.....and our friends who owned the cat started calling the cat "bobby"......his tail was whacked off by the fan in the car.
